"The birth of ARCADE, over 35 years ago, was a community effort; it took a village to bring it into the world and to nurture its adolescence." –Issue 36.1 feature

Thirty-five years later, ARCADE continues to provide the architecture, design, art and allied communities a place to share ideas—within the pages of the magazine and in real time at our many events. For this ARCADE feature, longtime ARCADE writers and community members express their thoughts about the organization, reflecting on the ways thoughtful storytelling and nuanced dialogue enrich our lives, both nourishing and challenging us.

This issue also includes ARCADE’s regular columns covering a wide range of topics related to design, architecture, urbanism, and art seen from a Northwest perspective.

Issue 36.1 is printed in two-color (black and turquoise) on coated stock, with the cover and feature in full-color. The issue was designed by Zach Hooker.
